I am Davey the 8th child of the Blackwood family. From the time that my mother was diagnosed with cancer to now, one word goes through my head everyday: That word being thankful. I realized how thankful I was to have the mother I had and how much I really appreciated her. It is also so easy now to recognize that life is fragile and every moment should not be taken for granted. It’s obvious to me now when a person can be taken for granted, most people like myself won’t realize that they have taken someone for granted until the thought of that person not always being there hits them. I’ve also realized how strong a cancer patient has to be to go through the treatments and the surgeries they have, just to live one day longer to be with the people they love.
